Two people were reported killed and five others kidnaped after an attack carried out by unknown gunmen on a commercial vehicle along the Wau-Abyei road on Tuesday.

Akonon Ajuong, one of the Ngok Dinka chiefs in Abyei, told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that a commercial vehicle on its way from Wau to Abyei was attacked by unknown gunmen at Thonliet area on Tuesday evening.

He revealed that the attack resulted into the killing of two people and wounding of another. The traditional leader added that five people were abducted by the attackers.

Ajuong said the kidnaped passengers hail from Abyei. He further said investigations into the incident are underway.

Nobody claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
