10 killed, thousands displaced after Likuangule cattle raid

At least 10 people were killed and thousands of civilians were displaced in Boma state after an attack on Jom area in Likuangule County allegedly by an armed group from the Lou Nuer earlier this week.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, the communication officer at the disaster management office in Boma state, Moses Tambrom, said many people went missing during and after the attack and many heads of cattle were raided.

“A group of armed youth from Lou Nuer came to Burukak on Monday and attacked our youth and killed 10 of them. And up to now eight of them are still missing. They also looted 12,000 heads of cattle and more than 8,000 people have been forced to leave their villages,” Tombrom said.

This is the second attack allegedly launched by members of the Lou Nuer tribe on Likuangule County this month.
