At least 10 people have been confirmed dead after a massive explosion at a military ammunition depot in Nyala town in Sudan’s South Darfur State on Sunday, a medical source said.

The source at Nyala Teaching Hospital who spoke on condition of anonymity told Radio Tamazuj that the hospital received 10 dead bodies and nearly 40 injuries. He pointed out that 10 injured are currently in critical condition.

Some citizens also said that houses close to the ammunition depot were totally destroyed by the fire, forcing many families to leave the area.
