Fayareen leader says momentum for tribal peace summit with Rizeigat
Leaders of the Misseriya Fayareen and Rizeigat tribe are moving toward holding a tribal conference after the Eid al-Fitr celebration, according to one of the Fayareen leaders.
The conference which is planned for an undisclosed area will address the conflict between the Fayareen and Rizeigat, which broke out in the middle of last July leaving dozens of dead and wounded from both sides.
A leader of the Misseriya tribe Muhamed Ali Busairi told Radio Tamazuj that there is momentum toward a meeting of his tribe with the Rizeigat in order to turn the page on the problems between the two sides.
Busairi said that the initiative was sparked by leaders of the Rizeigat after they paid a visit to console the Fayareen for the loss of their sons in the recent clashes. He said that he thought both sides are determined to keep out any outside mediation, noting that the parties intend to resolve this tribal conflict in isolation of others, by which he was referring to the Sudanese government.
The Misseriya leader accused the government of inciting conflict between the tribes and arming both sides.
