Abbasiya faces higher fuel price
People living in Al Abbasiya in eastern Nuba Mountains are facing rising prices of fuel. As of yesterday they faced three days of power outages in the town.
A number of residents told Radio Tamazuj that the price of a jerrycan of gasoline reached to 70 pounds, with a gallon at about 20 pounds. The price hikes led to the power outage for more than three days. Residents also experienced an increase in prices of basic consumer goods. The price of a pound of sugar went up to 2.5 pounds, and a kilo of meat reached 30 pounds.
Sources in the town warned of the potential consequences of the high commodity prices against the backdrop of a failed agricultural season. They called on authorities to intervene immediately to provide fuel before the situation gets out of hand.
